What is cancer?

What really is the disease that is the SECOND cause of all deaths in Poland, and its name arouses fear and sadness? Malignant tumors are appearing more and more often! Cancer is a common name for malignant tumors, specifically the type that originates from epithelial tissue.

In 2020, over 2.9 million people were diagnosed with CANCER in the European Union, and another 1.3 million people died from this disease (including young adults)! The statistics are alarming - the number of cancer cases may increase by up to 24% in just 10 years.

Cancer

Cancer - as the name suggests - is a new creation resulting from the transformation of healthy body cells into cancer cells that do not perform appropriate functions and rebel, posing a threat to our health. What causes such changes in cells? The clear causes of cancer are not known, but currently scientists agree that CANCER is caused by internal factors (genetic predisposition, severe mental stress, lack of sleep) and external factors (stimulants, food and air pollution, obesity or nutrient deficiency or lack of physical activity).

How does CANCER arise?

When the first cancer cell appears in our body, the process of carcinogenesis begins, or simply put, the multiplication of abnormal cells. ATTENTION! At the very beginning, this process occurs silently and does not cause any symptoms!

In a healthy body, a properly functioning immune system tries to get rid of "rotten" cells from the very beginning - our defense mechanism limits the expansion of cancer cells and prevents its development. At this stage, cancer is not dangerous and should be easy for our body to fight.

Unfortunately, when the immune system is overloaded and there is no shortage of carcinogenic factors in the external environment, rebellious cells silently increase in number, and the creature that is created from them has its own rules. Taking advantage of favorable conditions for development, which are often fatigue and weakness of the body, the cancer quickly multiplies the number of its cells, which results in tumor growth.

Cancer characteristics

What is particularly characteristic of CANCER is the movement of cancer cells from the place of their origin to other parts of the body, where malfunctioning cells try to create new formations, later called masticated cells. The described dissemination most often occurs through the circulatory or lymphatic system or cerebrospinal fluid. Additionally, malignant tumors have the ability to damage surrounding tissues and organs, and their tumors grow rapidly and aggressively, beyond control. Attention! Cancer often gives no signals - most often, symptoms appear only in the advanced stage of the disease!

Remember, however, that CANCER is not a death sentence - thanks to innovative treatment methods, patients are increasingly able to overcome malignant tumors!
